Non job-wise, I’ve been trying to put together a photography portfolio and develop a portfolio site the past couple of months.  In addition to shooting my brother’s senior photos, I was able to also do a session with my best guy friend and his wife recently.  In time, I’ll share the link to the new site, once the site is ready to go live, that is.  A few of the photos are on my flickr account right now.  While I don’t feel confident enough to turn portrait photography into a side venture just yet, I do plan to spend some time in the coming months convincing some folks to be ‘guinea pigs’ so that I can build the portfolio up and further develop my photography skills.

In the meantime, for those of you that have been longtime readers, I’ll be glad to share with you (via email) what I’ll soon be doing career-wise and the link to the not ready to go live site if you’re interested…just leave a comment and I’ll respond as soon as I can.

I frequently mentally compose entries to post here, but am usually nowhere near a computer, muchless an internet connection…or even paper and pencil to jot down key words.  In fact, I composed a fairly quirky one last night that I planned to post here today.  Sadly, however, brain drain occurred (once again) and I cannot remember it.  At all.  Just that I planned to post something here.  Go figure.

So with that, I ask just one favor for this week…please send lots of positive thoughts, prayers, crossed fingers, whatever to Houston on Saturday so that the bro goes in and quite literally rocks the state meet he’ll be competing in.  Its his senior year, so it would be a great way to finish off his high school athletic career.  And, maybe, a recruiter from one of the few schools that has his sport as a club sport that does offer scholarships will make an offer.  That part would be a bonus, but it never hurts to hope it could happen

Aprons – Y/N? owned one a long time ago, but its long since disappeared…

Baking – Favorite thing to bake? I love to bake!  Preferably cornbread, muffins, brownies, or cakes

Clothesline – Y/N? I use the dryer that my parents own…seeing how much they paid for it, might as well help them get their money’s worth

Donuts – Ever made them? No, but if I ever get enough free time and remember, I might

Everyday – One homemaking thing you do everyday? pick up the kitchen

Freezer – Do you have a separate deep freezer? the ‘rents have two

Garbage Disposal – Y/N? yes

Handbook – Y/N? on what, pray tell?

Ironing – Love it or hate it? don’t like it, but have to do it occasionally…try to stick to pants and slacks that don’t wrinkle much

Junk Drawer – Where is it? Well, there’s one in the kitchen…

Kitchen – Design and decorating? lots of oak and white (countertops), canister/bottle collection of mom’s on the shelf around the tops of the cabinets.

Love – What is your favorite part of homemaking? The being done with cleaning and cooking part

Mop – Y/N? squeeze mop

Nylons – Wash them by hand or in the washer? I don’t wear nylons/hose/whatever you want to call them…live in Texas one summer and you’ll understand why!

Oven – Do you use the window or open it to check? Keep the light on and watch…only after the timer goes off do I open it

Pizza – What do you put on yours? cheese, mushrooms, hamburger

Quiet – What do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment? just take a deep breath and relax until disturbed…

Recipe card box – Y/N? I have recipes, but no organized system beyond my recipe blog to file them in!

Style of house – one story, farmhouse style with wraparound porch 

Tablecloths and napkins – Y/N? no and the paper kind.  The dining room is only used on special occasions, otherwise it collects stuff the rest of the time

Under the kitchen sink – Cleaning supplies, mostly. trash can for all the non-aluminum metal cans that can’t be recycled as well

Vacuum – How many times a week? once, usually biweekly though

Wash – How many loads do you do a week? every weekend, an average of eight to ten, depending on time of the year (school year v. holiday breaks)

X’es – Do you keep a list of things to do and cross them off? I have to or I’ll forget something!!!  I swear I suffer from ADHD sometimes!

Yard – Who does what? Dad and the bro primarily.  I used to mow it until I entered the real world and grad school.  Mom rarely ventures out to work in the flower beds anymore

ZZZ’s – What is your last homemaking task for the day? final pickup of the kitchen as make my lunch for the day
